The Zamfara State Contributory HealthCare Management Agency (ZAMCHEMA) has flagged off the distribution of 175 Smart Phones to Healthcare facilitaties in the state to ensure effective and efficient data transmission.
Presenting the tools to the health facilities in Gusau over the weekend, the State Commissioner of Health, Dr Nafisa Maradun said the procurement of the smart phones by the agency aimed to enhance data reporting processes by the health facilities.
The Commissioner represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Malam Bashir Sirajo noted that the tools targeted to ensure qualitative and prompt transmission of data.
“I am very delighted today to witness this important exercise, I believe this would ensure effective data transmission by the facilities to ZAMCHEMA.
“This is inline with the state government’s policy under the leadership of Gov Dauda Lawal to ensure effective healthcare service delivery to all the citizens in the state.
“I am therefore, appealing to healthcare facilities that to handle these smartphones with high level of responsibilities”, she said.
The Commissioner commended the leadership of ZAMCHEMA for giving priority and emphasis to data processing.
She emphasized that the tools must be handled judiciously.
“This is to make your work more effectively and efficiently.
“I therefore, urge you to always deliver your work at your best capacity,” the commissioner added.
Also speaking, the Executive Secretary, ZAMCHEMA, Dr. Iliyasu Ahmad called on facilities to take issue of data processing with high level of seriousness.
Dr Ahmad emphasized that any facility failed to give data to the agency at when due will not receive capitation.
He noted that providing the tools to the health facilities is necessary for efficient data storage.
“We are going to train the desk officers from facilities how to handle these tools.
“I want to you to note that, this is a government properties, therefore you are expected to handle them responsible and judiciously.
“You should utilize these smartphones for the only purpose they were provided for,” Dr Iliya Ahmad insisted.
Also speaking, the Managing Director, Yariman Bakura Specialists Hospital, who spoke on behalf of the health facilities described the effort of the agency as a welcome development.
“I believe this will facilitate data entry and regular communication between the facilities and the ZAMCHEMA.
“In behalf of all the beneficiaries, we thank the leadership of ZAMCHEMA for being active in this direction.
The event was attended by the Chairman Governing Board of the ZAMCHEMA, Dr. Keku, Directors of the agency and representatives from health facilities in the state.
