The body of Reverend Yahaya Kambasiya, a clergy with the United Church of Christ In Nigeria, (UCCN) known as HEKAN tragically killed by unknown gunmen in Farin Dutse village in Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, was laid to rest at his hometown, Gulak in Madagali LGA of Adamawa State
Reverend Yahaya Kambasiyya was killed on October 28, 2025 when heavily armed terrorists invaded Farin Dutse village where he is pastoring a church and unleashed mayhem on residents and over 20 persons among which are HEKAN members, were also abducted and are still in captivity
A sad development that has thrown the community and HEKAN Church into fear and sorrow.
The funeral service which took place at EYN Church Gulak, was marked by deep sorrow and emotional tributes, where the church, relations, colleagues and his community gathered to bid farewell to the late clergyman.
The president of the United Church of Christ In Nigeria, HEKAN Reverend Kiri who led the funeral service, conveyed the heartfelt condolences of the church and described the cause of the clergy’s death as inhumane, callous and barbaric
Dr. Kiri extended sympathies to the deceased’s immediate family, the Christian community and all loved ones of the deceased.

This is the second time in less that a year clerrics and members of the United Church of Christ in Nigeria, HEKAN among other churches is experiencing armed bandits attack
It would be recalled that HEKAN Church In same area, was attacked by bandits on December 4, 2024, which led to the abduction of 50 persons, among whpm are HEKAN members, including its pastor, Reverend Francis Lawal, who spent months in the hands of his captors
Sadly, one of the kidnapped victims died in the hands of his captors and several others returned with various degrees of Injuries, including Reverend Francis Lawal who had to undergo medical treatment for several months.
HEKAN again, called on the governments at all levels to rise to responsibility of protecting lives and property of citizens across the country.
The General Secretary of the United Church of Christ in Nigeria (UCCN) popularly known as HEKAN, Reverend Acts Yunana and the Chairman, Minister’s Council Reverend Nicodemus Lambadaji, were among other clerics that attended the funeral service.
