The Guardian Corps (T.G. Corps) has described the confirmation of new Service Chiefs by the Nigerian Senate as a turning point in President Bola Tinubu’s security reforms.
Commander General Michael T.O. Heavens (Commander Don), in an official statement, congratulated the new military heads — Lt-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, Maj-Gen. Waidi Shaibu, AVM Sunday Aneke, and Rear-Adm. Idi Abbas — on their appointments and Senate confirmation.
Heavens said the swift legislative approval reflected a national consensus on the need for stronger, more dynamic security leadership.
“Their confirmation by the Red Chamber is a testament to their impeccable records and readiness to confront insecurity in the land,” he said.
The Corps also commended the outgoing Service Chiefs for their commitment to national unity and promised to align its operations with the government’s new security vision.
