Nigeria has once again been placed on the global map of excellence as Kayode Bamgbose, a Nigerian-born creative artist and percussionist, was honoured in the United Kingdom for his outstanding contribution to youth development through volunteering at Salford Youth Zone, Manchester.
Kayode, who hails from Nigeria, but now resides in the UK, has distinguished himself as a beacon of hope and inspiration to young people, using creativity, music, and mentorship to transform lives.
His recognition is being celebrated not only in Salford but also across Nigeria, where his story serves as proof that Nigerians continue to excel and impact communities worldwide.
At Salford Youth Zone, Kayode is more than a volunteer, he is a mentor, a teacher, and a role model who leverages his artistic gifts, particularly percussion to build confidence, encourage self-expression, and create safe spaces for young people in search of belonging.
Responding to this fit, he said, “Wherever I find myself, I want to make a difference. That’s what volunteering is all about for me, being a light in someone else’s journey.”
His inspiring journey was recently featured on Empower’s LinkedIn platform, where a video showcased his passion, energy, and hands-on connection with young people.
Kayode explained that the joy of seeing young lives transformed keeps him committed to service.
“I’ve seen young people walk in with the weight of the world on their shoulders and leave smiling, hopeful. That’s what keeps me going,” he added.
Beyond music and creativity, Kayode’s mission is deeply rooted in Nigeria’s culture of community and resilience.
“Through heritage workshops, mindfulness sessions, youth exhibitions, and mentorship, it is clear that art is not only a tool for entertainment but also for healing, identity-building, and empowerment,” he noted.
His recognition in the UK is also a recognition of Nigeria’s human capital, coming at a time when global narratives often highlight challenges facing the country, Kayode’s story is a reminder that Nigerians are thriving as change-makers, innovators, and community builders across the world.
On Social Media, he captured the essence of his work, “Our young people don’t need saving, they need space and, as a creative artist, I believe art can heal, unite, and transform. This isn’t just about art; it’s about pride, purpose, and power.”
For Nigeria, Kayode Bamgbose’s recognition is a moment of national pride, proof that Nigerians abroad continue to embody the spirit of service, resilience, and leadership.
