The National Chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) Shehu Musa Gabam allegedly crushed a young man’s car after beating traffic.

The victim, Abdul-Shakur A. Sambo who is currently battling for his life was hit by a vehicle reportedly belonging to Gabam
along Ahmadu Bello Way near the Turkish International School in Abuja, allegedly damaging Shakur’s private Toyota Corolla beyond repairs.

According to eye witness account, the VIP’s convoy drove against the traffic light which had stopped them but the Chairman’s Toyota Land Cruiser V8 rammed into Abdul-Shakur’s car.

“The VIP vehicle drove through the red light with no regard for oncoming traffic. It is a common and dangerous practice among convoys carrying the politically powerful”.

“It was a miracle for the victim to come out alive. The impact was too much. His car is damaged beyond repairs”. The eye witness said.

The source added, ” What surprised us most was how the chairman was moved into another car immediately and zoomed off abandoning their Land Cruiser and the victim without any concern on how to save his life”, the source who pleaded anonymity explained.

Recounting his narrow escape, Sambo said he was en-route Banex Junction when suddenly the car in the convoy rammed into his.

” I had the green light and right of way. This could’ve been the end of my life. The Chairman’s Toyota rammed into my car causing estimated damages to the tune of N18 million”.

“Since the accident on the 23rd June 2025, no official apology, or move for compensation, or responsibility has been taken by the SDP Chairman or his office.

“I’m traumatized, injured and currently under medical care, abandoned to cater for my self. I am the only son of my mother. I am pleading for justice.

” I call on the Inspector General of the Police to intervene in this matter and ensure his men do thorough investigation and allow truth to prevail in this matter”, he pleaded.

Pictures and videos obtained by this medium showed the extent of the disturbing accident.

Efforts to speak with both officers from the Maitama Police Station on Nile Street, Abuja where the two vehicles where moved to and the office of the National Chairman of SDP proved abortive as at the time of filing this report.
